Thinking about moving, what are these cities like? (North Shore, Honolulu, Gold Coast, New Orleans, Flushing)?

If anyone could tell me some stuff about these cities
that would be great!
The main things I want to know / am looking for are:
1. are they good places to raise a family?
2. is the crime rate really high or no?
3. what are the schools like? especially the public schools?
4. is it expensive?
5. how is the nitelife there?
6. are there any good resturants?

* Thai, Indian, Moroccan, Mexican, Italian, Japanese,
and Cajun food is all good

7. what is the general population, if you know?

* Not that it is incredibly important, but i'm pregnant and my kids are going to be Mexican, native Hawaiian (my parents are from Hawaii), and French. and I would really like for my children to be raised in a multi-cultural enviorment

The only city my fiance isn't going for so far is New Orleans.
He doesn't mind moving far
but he does not like the idea of those cities.
He thinks that New Orleans isnt a good place to raise a family,
mainly because of the Voodoo and vampire
myths (he is such a baby at heart, he just doesn't want the kids exposed to that) and of course the weather =/
