Moroccan clothing is influenced by history, traditions and culture and it is known for its bright styles all over the world. Two common Moroccan dresses are the djellaba and the kaftan.
The djellaba is a hooded gown that covers the entire body except for the head, hands and feet. Be aware that there is a different design for men than for women and it is traditionally worn over your clothing. In addition to being comfortable and pretty they are modest dress for Moroccan women. The kaftan is basically the same however it does not have a hood. As with most clothing, the kaftan has changed with the trends of Moroccan fashion. Women tend to wear it for special occasions such as a wedding. It can be worn under a takshita, which is another beautiful gown that follows custom Moroccan designwith hand made buttons, wide sleeves and a thick belt.
